Help!
I just purchased an external 3.5 inch diskette drive so I could save OLD files I have on these old disks.
Installed it - that was a no brainer.
But it wont open my files. Yep it says Do you want to format the disc? This disc has not yet been formatted> Does that on ALL my discs.
I wanted to upload the data to my laptop and save them to a jump drive.

What do I do now???? Did I just waste $15?? People online said they bought this thing for the same reason I did. So how do I bypass the formatting part??

If you know that the diskettes are good because data was written on a drive and read back on a different drive, then the new diskette drive most likely is defective. A $15 external diskette drive might not be of the highest quality. I would try to read a few diskettes on a known to be working properly diskette drive.

Edit: Were the diskettes created on a similar or the same OS?
