This is a serious question.

I've read the installation guide, and it said I should wait 16 hours to allow the batteries to get charged up.
It's an APC Backups pro 900 - BR900G-GR

The thing is.. I have it connected, but should I wait the 16 hours before, or after turning it on?

Also, I'm planning on connecting my laptop in the surge protection output, as I believe it could rely on it's own battery, what do you think about this?

You can turn it on now.
It just won't be fully functional until the batteries are totally charged.

1) The 16 hours is for allowing the battery to go to its first full cycle charge which is important for battery life. They are not fully charged at the factory, only tested to take a charge. At least that's the way it's always been with my APC units, and I've bought about 25 of them since the 1990s.

2) Yeah there is no need to plug your laptop with a working battery into one of the battery backup outputs.
