This is a follow-up to my original thread here : https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...-properly-but-all-tests-say-its-fine.3842684/

I just got around to installing a new replacement HDD, I selected quick format in Disk Management after initialising it, it's been a little bit and it's still formatting, it's the same kind, a 2TB Seagate Barracuda, brand new. So unless I'm very unlucky and got a bad HDD, I think something else is causing this, but I have no idea what to check next.

If it wasn't initialized from factory, even quick if format is selected, it will do full format, don't interrupt it or it will be worse. Also make sure that SATA port is set to AHCI, not RAID.
