I Recently bought a Gigabyte G32QC Gaming Monitor as an upgrade from my 60hz monitor with my Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series Gpu But when I try and change the Refresh rate to the advertized 165 hz the highest that shoes up is 120hz I used the included displayport cable but I am unable to find out why i cant get 165hz

Solution
The monitor is 2560x1440 the moniter has displayport 1.2 so does the gpu and i changed the refresh rate to 120 in windows which is the highest it will go
I believe that’s the issue, at 1440p I’m pretty sure a DisplayPort 1.2 can only output 120hz. Switch to 1080p and see if that works, if it does you may need a DisplayPort 1.4 to do 1440p 165hz

What resolution is the monitor, and what DisplayPort version is it? Are you changing the refresh rate in Windows? Are you properly overclocking (if this monitor supports it) in the monitors settings?
