Hello people,

sorry if this question is stupid. I bought a new monitor arriving today: https://www.samsung.com/us/computin...yssey-g7-gaming-monitor-lc32g75tqsnxza/#specs

Currently I have a pretty bad one that I got for free at work so it's going to be a huge upgrade. I use a common HDMI that came with my current monitor, I've been reading a lot about different types of HDMI and wondering if I will need to get a new one?
I have a 3060ti GPU

Since I don't know how old of an HDMI cable you are using, I am going to assume an older HDMI 1.4 cable. That will run the monitor at 60Hz but no faster. I would recommend getting a DisplayPort 1.4 or newer cable as that will give you the ability to run at 1440p @ 240Hz plus the largest G-Sync range (overall the 2.0 or 2.1 cables aren't much more expensive and are backwards compatible). An HDMI 2.0 cable will only get you 144Hz at 1440p. I personally have this cable as I needed extra length. So far it has worked great but they have sorter versions.
