im getting this new pc and want to make sure the cooling and motherboard is good enough to overclock it up to like 4.2-4.5 here are the specs. or any other problems that might arise.

Processor 1 x AMD FX-8320 CPU (8x 3.50GHz/8MB L3 Cache)
Processor Cooling 1 x Asetek 510LC (Standard 120mm Fan)
Memory 1 x 8 GB [4 GB x2] DDR3-1866 G.SKILL RipjawsX
Video Card 1 x AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB - Single Card
Motherboard 1 x ASUS M5A97 R2.0 -- AMD 970
Power Supply 700 Watt Standard
2TB SATA 6.0Gb/s Single Drive**

Solution

Personally I would go for a better motherboard. That one only has a 4+1 power phase for the CPU, and that CPU is very power hungry, especially when you overclock. I'd recommend a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 which has a superb 8+2 power...
i ordered the fx 9370 but something happened with my card so i had to reorder and seen all the stuff about people saying just get a fx 8320 and overclock it. not 100% sure im going to overclock it but just want to make sure if i change my mind i can OC without regretting not getting a couple better parts.

Motherboard might allow up to 4.2 depending on silicon quality of CPU. Its only 4 phases to the CPU. I max at 4.3ghz with an m5a99fx pro and hyper 212 evo and have an antec hcg 620w PSU. Maybe I lost the silicon lottery but If its an indicator of anything I doubt you'll get past 4.2 safely. I hit 75 socket and 62 package at 4.3 with heaps of case flow and pressure , and I have active vrm cooling.

HDD: 2TB (2TBx1) SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Drive)
MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/2133MHz Dual Channel Memory (ADATA XPG V3)

FAN: Cooler Master Seidon 120M Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler - Enhance Cooling Performance [-3] (Dual Standard 120MM Fans (Push-Pull)

That motherboard will do you just fine. Much better power phase and still allows for crossfire/sli later if you want it. Good find there :)
