I recently bought a 525W new power supply with a new graphics card but ever since then my internet speed drops whenever i put the metal cover of my pc case on and would drastically increase when i take it off, can someone please help me? i dont want to leave my case open
i think it might be the new PSU because it has a lot more wires than my old one that might block a "network sensor" or something in the motherboard

just in case, this is my pc (except with 525W PSU and GTX 660 GPU): http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03520537&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&contentType=

also, internet worked fine before i bought my new PSU and GPU

Here's the picture of the wireless card from your link that noidea_77 is talking about:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportDocument/c03520537/c03394793.jpg

It has two screw holes, one on the top left and one on the top right, and just inside of those, mounted on what look like tiny white squares, are two, small, button like connectors with a teeny tiny pin in the middle of them. Those are antenna connectors. There is a white triangle on the left denoting your primary antenna, and a black triangle on the right denoting antenna number 2. Preferably ensure that the primary antenna is plugged in. But if you can find the wires for both, make sure they're both connected. 🙂

The card itself is not very big in size, about...
Agree with noidea_77. Even without knowing you had wireless, that's what it sounded like.

Verify and fix your antenna and connections and you should be set, but be careful when working with SMT finger lock co-axial antenna connections like the mini-PCIe cards have as it's easily possible to remove the connector along with the cable.

Well, if the antennas are intact (noidea_77's thoughts on them loosening make sense; check that first), it could also be that the CM, too cheaply made to contain decent EMI filters, is emitting a lot of interference.
Make sure you're using a grounded outlet for your system, not an adapter for a two-prong outlet (unless the adapter is properly grounded).

Have you looked inside to verify anything concerning a possible wireless card? That seems the most likely candidate. 🙂

I'm not sure I agree with all the negativity about the power supply's supposed EMI filtering capability. The OP mentioned the side panel being the only thing making a significantly noticeable and changeable impact. Would the side panel be more likely to absorb the excess EMI or reflect it back toward the wireless device? You are increasing the ground plane of the chassis with a properly conducting side panel, so I wouldn't go the EMI route. 🙂

well i dont know what the wireless card looks like and even if thats the problem, how would i fix it? or how do i even know its the problem?

There is a link in your original post. Click on that and scroll down to the "Networking" section. There is a picture of the card. Find that on your mobo and look for the antenna. At least one antenna wire has to plugged in.

The card itself is not very big in size, about 1.1" x 1.2" x 0.1", which might have allowed you to easily overlook it.

The location of the slot for the wireless card is just below the x16 PCIe slot and to the right of the button battery. It appears white in color in all of the photos of your motherboard I am finding, and it's oriented so the card will be rotated 180° from it's orientation in the picture.
