When the 3080 came out sorta with a paper launch I thought the prices were great as it won't reach 1k. nVidia says a lot of things including gimmicky things like 8k lol. First give us 144fps on 4k then tell us to 8k so we get 60fps. I hate how nVidia played this series out. So the 3090 is about twice as much for 10 to 15fps more in 4k. Is that really worth it to spend 1800 bucks on a 3090 when you can spend 900 bucks which is half the price, all for 15 more frames per second.TLDR🙈

Also whats up with these configs like 20GB VRAM on a 3080? That is not going to make things faster that is a insane ammount no game will ever use present or future. So another gimmick.
Let us see what the performance is like with the 2500 dollar 3090Ti. It needs to be at least 35 percent faster then the 3090 if you look back at history and the 2080 and 2080Ti performance and what not.

The 3080 is a great card alto it costs as much as a TV. The 3090 for 15 or 20fps more is the biggest rip off of this decade or last err. Then what the 3090Ti at 2500 is only 10 percent faster then a 3090 and what not. Oh boy their still going to release a 3070 then make Super versions of the 3070 and 3080 and 3090.

For all above reasons I boycott this Ampere series. Maybe in 2 years the 4080Ti can finally do 4k@144fps to match your gaming monitor. If not then I rather play at 2k with AA methods and get double the performance and no jaggies. sighs. I mean nVidia is up to no good when they touted the 2080Ti as a 4k card @60FPS and now their touting the 3080 as a 4k card @60FPS. Very interesting its complete nonsense. Wake me up when 4k can dish 144fps then I will buy that card. But 4k@60fps and 8k which no one has at 15fps I will most def pass as I am happy man now at my 2k with nVidia settings maxed out all AA methods and in game set to ultra I get triple digit FPS and smooth and no lag and what have you.🖐🙏👽

No game?
Ever?

So what IS the max VRAM a game will ever use?
512MB?
2GB?
10GB?
19.8GB?

I bought 3080 and still waiting for an email for them to tell me when its going to arrive and if am on the 1st shipping order but with 3090 got email saying its going to arrive on 5th october and am on pre order list so what ever card comes first am going to stick with. But everyone has there own taste!

I don't think you have that quite right. From my understanding the RTX 3090 was released more to replace the Titan RTX. (More of a work station card)

If you look at the Titan RTX vs the 2080ti their were only a few FPS difference also but a big price difference.

Besides the lack of cards the 3080 sells for much less than the 2080ti sold for with about 20% better gaming performance that is about a normal performance increase from one generation to the next. Huge price drop for better performance I would think nobody could complain about that.

Not a game per se, but the X-Plane flight simulator is squeezed for texture space on 8GB now. 20GB would allow for far more high-res (4Kx4K) textures to remain on the card without the overhead of swapping things in and out. So no, not a gimmick, only in your mind is it such.

I see your point my guru friend. But problem is who dare play at 60fps with dips. I understand your talking about hi res textures and that will get loaded in VRAM but 20GB worth of it? The 2080Ti with its VRAM has been doing just fine. I wonder how much these crazy VRAM ammount cards are going to cost. I say sell a body part and what not.👽🙈💯🍩🚔
