Braided cable help?

I've already asked a question about this future build/upgrade that I'm going to do, but I have a couple more questions.

I want to get braided cables from a company like CableMod, but I don't know how to know which cables I need to replace.

If anyone could give me a method of knowing which cables I need, or outright tell me, that'd be really appreciated.

Build/upgrade (More of an entirely new build at this point): http://pcpartpicker.com/list/6LxW9W

First of all, you're going to need a better power supply. One that's fully modular if you want to do anything with cable mod.

I fully recommend a power supply like EVGA's SuperNOVA G2

You always want to put your power supply near double the wattage that your computer requires so the supply with last longer and be more stable in the long run.

Once you have a fully modular power supply like this one, you'll probably want to replace the 24 pin power supply cable with new cables, the 8 pin CPU cable, your 8 pin GPU cable, and that's really it. If you really wanted to, you could make your SATA cables braided too, but that often draws attention to the mess they're...

If you're neat with cables you could have it if you want to drop the extra cash.

I've seen STUNNING builds with braided cables on the graphics card/s, should that be done? Or is it pointless?

Also, living in NZ, I wanted to make as little upgrades as necessary (or tried to, at least), because the pricings here are insane. That's why I still had the power supply from my current rig in the list.

I can understand that, but the problem with your power supply is that it isn't modular. For cable mod to work, you need places where you can replace the wire. This isn't done by splicing and dicing, which could cause even more problems with the exposed or mucked up wire. You're going to need a semi-modular power supply at the minimum.

On top of that, this is a pretty serious build. You don't want your power supply blowing out something because it was put under too much stress (which is highly unlikely, but is a problem nevertheless).

I mean, my opinion on getting braided cabling is if you're going to do it, you're going to go all out. Braid everything that will make it look cool.

Alright, thank you for helping me.

I'm sorry if I hadn't done enough research before asking, but I didn't know that you had to have a modular power supply for you to be able to change the cables. I guess that is going to be more money on the build, haha.

As for the PSU blowing out, I hope that doesn't happen. It would be a serious blow to my funds and... Well, let's just say I really wish it doesn't happen.

Otherwise, yeah. I think I've learned my lesson, and I have you to thank for that.

Bah, you come here so you can ask to gain more stuff for research. Research before is optional, but appreciated.

I'm blowing up the entire power supply situation, just so you know. I'll probably be perfectly fine for a few more years before dying or having issues, but hey. Precautions.

If you want to cut back on cash, you could drop the liquid cooler and get a $40 - 50 air cooler that will perform the same because it's only a 120mm radiator. There's $40 right there. You could also drop the ASUS 1070 and go for the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming 1070, which will perform the same for nearly $40 less. Still has RGB lighting. That's nearly paying for the power supply right there.

Good luck on your build.

Changing the graphics card is all good and well, with my only gripe being the small orange stripes on the bottom of the Gigabyte one not fitting with my wanted blue colour setup, but with the H80i v2, it's a different situation. I know what you mean when you say that watercoolers and air coolers perform the same, but air coolers are cheaper, but I want this cooler because I just think it looks better. I know, kinda useless, but the looks are something I really want to nail with this build.

You typically won't see the orange underside of the card with it being placed downwards. Unless your head is lower than the computer itself, then you won't even see the fans on it.

Who says air coolers can't look cool? I'd look around and see what your options are. I do see what you mean with the looks though.

Spend what you need. I don't really see anything else that you would want to skimp on.
