I just bought a 4790K to replaced by 4570 in hopes of getting a few more years. I bought from Newegg and noticed a few things:

1 contact pad has a dark spot
The heatsink in the box was incredibly dirty on the thermal grease
The manual had a Celeron instruction (???)

Should I be worried, or just plug the CPU in?

Here's pics:

I'm an inspector for manufacturing plant, so I'm kind of used to looking for very small imperfections. I first thought it was on the plastic container, but then opened up the cpu package and realized it's on the chip.

The thermal paste has dirt in it (or FOD, foreign object debris, as we would say in the plant). I'm trying to remember back when I bought my i5...didn't intel put a plastic container over the heatsink? My Ryzen 2600 certainly did. And this one was just out in the open next to the cardboard...seems kind of strange to me. Yet the box was sealed, and an i7 shipped with a Celeron manual...?
