Brand new build, attempting to put Linux onto new SSD from an iMac

That just about sums it up, really. I'm in the process of building a new computer and am at the Hard Drive installation phase, when it occurred to me that maybe - just maybe - I could download Fedora from my friend's iMac directly onto my SSD. However, when I plug in, it tells me that it the disk I inserted was not readable by this (the iMac) computer and then I have a choice of three buttons: Initialize... Ignore / Eject.

What do I have to do (besides just loading a jump drive with Fedora, I don't have one, and my phone says something like "can't access the root" ).

Right now, Erasing my disk in "ExFAT" mode seems to be what I want to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I will probably end up doing this, but I was just wondering if there was a way to directly do it. I've been searching the boards here and elsewhere looking for answers but no one seems to be addressing the specific question. And at present, my motherboard's warning audio is going "beeeeeeeeep-beep-beep" and so I need to figure out a way to address that problem too. Maybe it's because I have my SSD hooked up without an OS installed on it? I don't know.

Yes It is possible (many different methods) but its a quite bit more work involved than simply using a usb drive. In particular its not straightforward to boot from a device but then also install a new OS to it while it is running.

I do know this can be accomplished with syslinux/GRUB and using a 'memdisk' to copy the installation disk to RAM.

Again much easier to obtain a usb drive from a friend, or go pick up a cheap one for <$5 at the dollar store.

The beeping from your motherboard is not because you don't have an OS installed. You need to sort this out first. The manual for your m/b should tell you what the beep pattern means; typically it is related to a RAM problem or a video card problem, but you need to look up the specific beep patterns for your m/b.
