First off, this problem is occurring to my friend who just built his first gaming PC and installed windows 7. He installed windows and when he's using his PC it freezes very frequently and he was wondering what he could do to fix it. Also, this freezing thing occurred before he installed windows so that might not be the issue. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Check these:
1. Components are surely attached well, not hanging ( especially gpu, rams )
2. Powercables are attached well
3. Reset BIOS settings(?)
4. PSU enough powerful?
5. GPU Drivers are up to date?
6. Thermal paste is correctly used ( overheating? )
7. Try repair installation for windows
