Brand new build, motherboard doesn't beep, some things are working.

I need helping figuring out what is wrong with a new build that won't start.

When I turn it on-
Motherboard does not beep.
The cpu fan, psu fan, and all chassis fans work.
The front power indicator light on the case turns on.
The button to turn on the case fan LED works.
Mouse and keyboard light up.
Power button turns it back off.

What does it mean???

I disconnected the power and data cables from the HDD and optical drive, still no beep.

Here are my components (all new)

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock Z87M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: GeIL EVO Veloce Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Case: Cooler Master CM 690 II (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic 360W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V Power Supply
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

I had a issue with this.

Check the mobo manual before doing this...

Since Mobo's are made in china, they can make huge mistakes so there might be a mini lever or button which might be causing this...

I haven't heard a motherboard beep in almost a decade....case speakers are a thing of yesteryear.

Do you have a speaker in your build ?

-Is 8 pin EPS cable connected next to CPU ?
-Is CPU fan connected ?
-What is your monitor cable connected to ? Onboard GFX ?
-Is there a discrete GFX card and is cable connected ?
-Have you used the Monitor OSD to select the appropriate input type (HDMI, DP, DVI) ?
-Are there any LEDs on MoBo on ?
-Have you called Asrock and gone thru troubleshooting process ?

Remove both sticks of RAM and see if you get the normal "missing RAM" beeps. If you do, try one stick of RAM at a time.

You would need to buy one of these motherboard BIOS POST Speakers:

and connect it to your motherboard's Speaker pins on the Front Panel Header:

My case came with a motherboard speaker, I made sure I put it in the right header and the right way.

Yes, the 8pin connecter from the PSU is plugged in near the CPU.
The CPU fan is plugged in and spins when I power up.
I am using onboard graphics, I used the HDMI connection. I am using my current monitor on the new build. I am connected with VGA right now, I guess I will try VGA with the new system.
What is OSD? I guess I have not done that.
I didn't see any lights on the motherboard, but I don't think it has any.
I have not called anyone yet.

Ok, I'll try this. I hope it is not a bum motherboard speaker, but nothing came up on screen either, so I doubt it.

Motherboards haven't included a speaker for years so you're not going to hear any beeps until you hook one up to the 4-pin SPEAKER1 header on your motherboard.

I guess he missed that 😀 BUT...

I tried the VGA connection, and it worked (hooray!!!), but the speaker still never made a peep. So I guess I have a broken mobo speaker and my HDMI is not working for some reason? Well I'm going to install windows and get my drivers and anti-virus using VGA now. If all goes well I can report back from my new computer.

Yes I did miss your reply because I was already entering in my response before your your post showed up.

Are the two wires for your speaker connector located at the ends of the connector housing?

If any wire is located in the center two positions of the connector housing it won't work.

I tried to post on this thread yesterday, but I kept getting an error message. The new computer is working! For some reason, my motherboard speaker beeps when I enter the BIOS, but not when I POST. Maybe it is a setting in the BIOS that is off by default. So that combined with the fact that using HDMI causes nothing to display onscreen made me think I had a serious problem. I was worried I damaged the CPU (I had to force the lever down pretty hard and it dented the CPU) or fried the motherboard with static electricity at some point. What a relief!

I tried the HDMI connection again after I installed Windows and got all my drivers, etc. It made the display keep flashing on and off. Then the repair mode started and said my computer couldn't boot, but couldn't find any problem. So now I'm back on VGA. I think JackNaylorPE was right that I need to change my OSD setting (had to google OSD). How would I change it to HDMI while I am connected with VGA though? Should I connect both at once then change it?

It could be as simple as a bad HDMI cable. Have you tried a different one?

I got the HDMI to work now. I guess you can't change it without restarting. I shut down the computer and monitor, then put in the HDMI cable. I turned on the monitor, then the computer, and it started running in HDMI.

I was doing other stuff in my BIOS today, and sure enough, "Boot Beep" was set to off.
