So, when I first built it, I'm pretty sure it ran flawlessly (I say pretty sure because I've been away from it on vacation for 10 days). But lately, it's been loading web pages very slowly (I mainly use Chrome, but I tried FF and IE and they are even slower), takes 5-10 seconds, usually around 10s, which is slower than my 3 year old macbook pro laptop. However, it's not all web pages, it's only if I haven't been on that site yet in that specific tab. For example, if I open a new tab and go to youtube, it'll take 5-10 seconds, but if I click on any videos in rapid succession, it'll load them all up instantly on that tab. Same thing with wikipedia, for example, it takes 5-10 seconds to get there but once I'm there, navigating from article to article is instant. What could the issue be?

Every single driver has been updated, including the BIOS. The speedtest on my laptop and my PC (which is using the wireless adaptor that came with the motherboard) are the same, both around 15-20Mbps download and 10-15Mbps upload (depending on the time of day). I did recently download the free one-year of Kaspersky Anti-Virus which came with the motherboard. So now I'm running Kaspersky and the free version of Malwarebytes, with the Windows Firewall, so there shouldn't be any compatibility issues there. It seemed like it was fine when I was running avast when I first built it, before downloading Kaspersky, but I might not be remembering correctly because I haven't used it in weeks. I tried turning off Kaspersky anyway and it still loads web pages slowly. So that probably isn't affecting my performance. I also scanned my computer a couple times with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes and there are no issues there.

Can anyone please help me? I don't know what the issue could be. I don't know if I should start desperately RMAing some of my parts to see if one of them are the issue. It runs games fine, like CS:GO and Overwatch, but it's mostly just when I load web pages. I am currently using the integrated graphics on my CPU, saving up for a GTX 1080, I don't know if that is helpful at all. Anyway, anyone know what I could do to fix this? Do I have to do a system restore?

you realize that both kapersky and malwarebytes are in turn scoping out every new site you open and referencing a cloud based check to make sure that you are safe surfing before it loads the page? Turn them off/uninstall and test it.

I don't use anything at all except what's in the OS and I run malware bytes once a month.

I changed the DNS server, and that helped a bit. And I uninstalled Malwarebytes, and that also helped a bit. I had heard from several people that the free version of malwarebytes doesn't have real-time protection so it wouldn't conflict with Kaspersky or Windows Defender, but I guess they were wrong. I tried turning off Kaspersky, and it seemed like Windows Defender didn't really make it any faster, so I think I'll just leave Kaspersky on. It's much better now after uninstalling MWB and changing the DNS server, but it's still approximately the same speed as my old macbook (at least it's not slower anymore). I guess I can live with it.

EDIT: Actually, after testing it a couple more times, it does seem like Windows Defender is faster. I'll just leave that on. Thank you guys for the advice. It's still not lightning-fast, but I guess I can handle it, I think. I had heard that Kaspersky was light-weight and barely affected performance but I guess that isn't true.

Anyone else know what could be the issue? Since it's still not crazy fast like I expected, considering my specs and I'm running Windos on an SSD. I didn't think it would be the same speed as my MBP with a HDD

For the sake of argument, try surfing with Edge, the new browser in Windows 10 and see if performance is better. That's pretty much the fastest browser around, but really whatever networking latency you have inherent to your setup won't be improved by new hardware. A ten year old PC with an SSD will pretty much surf at the same speed as a new one.

To get comfortable that your new PC is not doing something strange suggest you download a few benchmarks, or look at a few framerates in games. Your looking for a BIG difference, not 5%.

Note also, the first few times you hit a website it will load more slowly. Then all of the images get cached and it loads quicker.

Yeah, I scanned twice with Kaspersky when it was on, and twice with Defender and once with MWB and nothing showed up. I haven't been on any shady sites and have barely even used the computer yet.

As for the task manager, I have 38 background processes, and 27 windows processes, but none of them seem to be eating up my bandwidth much.

Nope, my old HDD macbook still beats out my PC whether I use Edge or Chrome on new sites that aren't cached yet. Do you think it could be a hardware problem?

As for the benchmarking, I'm only using integrated graphics at the moment, so I don't really have anything to compare results to.
