Brand new laptop 'Windows was not properly shut down'

I've had a new Lenovo IdeaPad laptop for about a week and today the start up time is a bit longer than normal and I keep seeing after most boots today 'Windows was not properly shut down' in reliability history.

I remember this happening on Windows 11 on another Lenovo device last year that I bought and it went away, but it didn't happen so many times in one day - maybe a one off before.

Should I return the laptop? Everything is fine with it, the device turns off when I click 'shutdown' from start menu.

I'm a bit confused, some advice appreciated! Thanks.

which lenovo laptop is it?

Have you run their driver updater to see if you up to date?
what does it show if you click the View technical details screen?

I wonder what windows update failed, others after it seem to work okay

I hate that gameinput thing. It happens on my pc too. Every day

try running windows update since one failed.
It's the IdeaPad Slim 5.

Yes, everything up to date. It all of a sudden started last night, been fine the past week.

The update that failed was subsequently installed fine seconds later.

When I press technical details, it says the following:

The previous system shutdown at 3:41:02 PM on ‎11/‎22/‎2023 was unexpected.

Thanks.

why do you look in there after every start?

I hate the place, you can think PC is working fine and then look in there and its all red dots

oh look, that update failed on mine as well

I have a problem but windows can't see it. So that screen is no use to me. Still prefer to be at 10 (I don't mean windows 10).

Unless you can tell the PC is shutting down when it shouldn't be, I would ignore it.

I wasn't looking there after every restart, it's just that when the laptop takes a bit longer to load I know it's going to say Windows didn't shut down properly. Cheers, I will just ignore it.

could look in event viewer at the time just before the previous shutdown that error was recorded for, to see if any clues.

windows 10 used to show that if you had fast startup on but that should be off on win 11 if you boot off nvme/ssd
Thank you, no clues there.

I haven’t changed the fast start up on my Nvme and I think it’s enabled automatically?

search for control panel
choose big icon view
choose power options
click Choose what the power button does

if its on, and you have an nvme,
next to blue/yellow shield icon, click Change setting that are currently unavailable
untick Turn on fast startup
save changes
