Hi Tom's,

I just had internet installed, and it went pretty smooth until I tried to connect from my computer.

My iPhone connects to the internet alright, but my computer simply doesn't detect anything.

I installed all the basic drivers that came with the software.

I checked for the network adapter and it was there. I decided to try to reinstall it. Unfortunately once uninstalled I wasn't able to reinstall it. Now instead of "Network Adapter" it says "Other Devices" and contains an "Ethernet Controller" rather than something more specific like before. So now I have another problem on my hands..

I'm confused and frustrated. The technician was completely clueless and didn't help at all.

Anyone know what's going on?

Sounds like your computer doesn't have a built in wifi adapter. You should pick up a USB wifi adapter similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Edimax-EW-7811Un-Wireless-Adapter-Wizard/dp/B003MTTJOY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400533646&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+wifi+adapter. With the adapter you'll be able to detect and connect to your wifi network.
I was talking about the install driver option to automatically search for you? And do you not have the disc that came with it anymore?

If not, if you have access to another computer, you can download the driver from another computer, load it onto yours with a flash drive, and install that way.

Well I just manually found where the driver was, and it installed successfully as "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-V."

Edit: I do have the disk that's where I found the driver, idk why the automatic search wouldn't find it.
But yeah it still doesn't work, the diagnostic solution is "Plug an Ethernet cable into the computer." I don't have an Ethernet cable and my computer is too far from the router. Do I need to buy a wifi adapter or something?

Are you sure your computer has a wireless adapter (go to: Control Panel-->Network and Sharing Center-->change adapter settings)? Have you connected to a wireless network on your computer before? If you're on a laptop do you see a wifi toggle switch or button that may be switched off? A little more info is needed to resolve this issue, but it should be easily fixed.

I honestly don't know if I have a wireless adapter lol..

I don't see "Change adapter settings" in Network and Sharing Center.

I have never connected to the internet before with this PC (it's a computer not laptop).

Oops sorry I see "Change adapter settings" now.

It says
"Broadband Connection
Disconnected
WAN Miniport (PPPOE)

Local Area Connection
Network Cable Unplugged
Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-V"
