[SOLVED] brand new PC - occasional visual artifacting in game - concerning?

Hi all,

Built a brand new PC with a friend about two weeks ago (Ryzen 3600X, 16gb 3600mhz RAM, RTX 2060 Super, most up to date GPU drivers). I’ve been playing Just Cause 3 at 60 FPS and enjoying it a lot but I’ll get these occasional visual artifacts when explosions occur - I’ve uploaded a video to illustrate what happens:

Now, these artifacts only crop up during explosions of certain items, and at certain angles. Furthermore, you can see my GPU temp and fan speed in the top left of the screen - it never exceeds 60 degrees C. Finally, I’ve not experienced visual artifacting in any other games I’ve played thus far. I also know that Just Cause 3 is pretty notoriously poorly programmed.

However I do know that visual/texture artifacting can be a sign of poor GPU health. Should I be concerned about this sort of thing happening at all? I’m still within the in-store defective product exchange period for my GPU.

If other games dont produce similar artefacts, then i dont think theres anything wrong with the GPU.

Lol, I love JC3...so fun to fun around just destroying things and getting away like spider man...
The game is designed with low end hardware in mind. With that said I would probably run a couple of GPU benchmarks and see if the issue will duplicate outside this game, as mentioned by woot above.

Thanks for the responses guys. These sorts of artifacts or visual artifacts of any kind don’t replicate in any other of the games I’ve played (Fallout 4, crysis 3, squad, post scriptum, greygoo - as you can see I’m only getting caught up on pc games lol). My GPU temps run mid 60s max across all of these titles.

punkncat, do you mean running a formal benchmark/stress test? Could you recommend one? & can I be reasonably reassured that everything is okay with my GPU if no visual weirdness occurs while running that?

Unigine, geek3d (among others) have suites of free software you can use to run a benchmark/stress test.

Hey again. So I messed around in Unigine Heaven without any visual artifacting.

I also ran the 3DMark Time Spy stress test, and here is my result: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/46549601?

98.2% stability.

I think I should be in the clear, but just wanted the "punkncat stamp of approval" with regards to being reassured about my PC hardware health?
