Brand new rig won't turn on... Help!

Just assembled and plugged in my brand new machine. Got all excited, pressed the button and.... Nothing. No noise, no lights, nothing.

The 24 and 8 pin cords are connected, the PSU is on, the power strip is on... Nothing. Am I a victim of a DOA mobo?

Try starting the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the motherboard corresponding to the case power button (check the board's manual for their location).
If still no go, try testing the board outside the case, for ruling out a short.

See if a fan connected to it does spin.

So i I ended up swapping my custom 24 pin cord for the one that came with the PSU. Worked perfectly, and everything went smooth. Appreciate the quick responses, but looks like I should have done a bit more troubleshooting before freaking out and calling for support. Thanks yall!
