Hello all, this is my first post here and I just realized today that I do not know how I am going to update the Bios for my motherboard as I do not already have a CPU. My motherboard is an Asus Prime X470-Pro. I saw somewhere that if the motherboard has a flash bios built in then I can update the bios without a CPU I don't know if that is true or not but I am wondering if my motherboard is capable of doing that. Any help will be good, thank you.

Solution
I don't know if an A10 will work to flash the new Ryzen 3000 series compatible BIOS since most of them remove support for older AMD CPU's.
Most Asus motherboards come with the feature to upgrade directly from a pendrive, so I don't think it will be needed. I wonder if they need the CPU to boot though.

Cheers!
His MB doesn't have that feature (Asus FlashBack).
Sadly there are very few models that have that FlashBack Button/Feature.
So he does need a CPU that is supported by whatever BIOS the board is using in order to update to a newer BIOS version using the flash features his board does have:
  • ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3
  • ASUS EZ Flash 3

I see. Then using your "lending" option sounds like a good idea. Paying someone is the lesser expensive option as an alternative, I guess.

Cheers!
