Brand new seagate hard drive beeping & not recognized

Hi Experts,

I bought a new Seagate Ironwolf 8tb from Amazon (third party seller). Upon arriving, I plugged into my desktop, connected power & sata. As I was waiting for new sata cables to arrive, I removed one from my optical drive and plugged it into new hdd. Upon booting, hdd wasn't recognized, and continuously kept beeping. I tried switching power cable & sata cable from my working 2gb hdd with no luck.

Did new hdd arrive dead?

Or is it possible the hdd isn't being supplied sufficient power?

The drive does not need any extra power aside from the normal SATA power. Did you contact Seagate support or the seller?

I did go back to the seller and have returned the drive. Now a little sceptical of buying the same 8tb ironwolf again. Will check all the available options.

I bought a 2TB Barracuda from Newegg that was DOA. Returned it and bought one from Amazon because they have fast shipping and it works great. Sometimes you just get a bad one I guess.
