Brand new system is horribly slow out of box

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron that is ridiculously slow. Upon setup and initial boot, it took over two hours to complete the boot. Once it finally completed boot, the system takes forever to launch any app -- generally 3-7 minutes to launch something as simple as MS Word or Excel. If the program launches, it then often crashes and freezes the system requiring a reboot. Going online is agonizing because it can take 5-10 minutes to launch any browser (have tried Chrome, Firefox and Edge - all are slow). I've attempted to load Office and Creative Suite, but the system crashes when attempting to do anything complex, such as load new programs.

What I've tried: reset to factory, thus removing anything loaded post initial boot
Removed all bloatware and unneeded apps (mostly games and adware)
Run Malwarebytes (identified nothing)

I've tried contacting Dell, but they have been way less than helpful. Techs insist issue is "user error" even though issue began out of box. I literally unpacked the computer, plugged it in and tried to boot --- after 2.3 hours, I gave up and shut down. Second time the system finally booted after over 2 hours.

Please know: I am NOT a computer expert. So, if you can please put advice into simple terms, I will very much appreciate the help. Thanks!
