Bought a pre-built system 4 years ago and recently bricked my Asus B350m-a trying to do a bios upgrade. It is a microAtx

Has Ryzen7 2700x cpu with cooler
Geforce rtx 2070
16gb ram 2333
Windows install was on a 500gb ssd
Also has a 1tb hd

Well reading many threads here I would like to upgrade the cpu and motherboard. Keep the GPU for now. Possibly add a new ssd or better because it will probably need a new windows purchase??

Should I upgrade the case to ATX or just swap in a new motherboard and cpu? How much improvement can 1000$ get me gaming wise? Should I go cheap 500$ to keep most of my current rig and do a new purchase 1-2 years from now?

Solution
Make and model of your power supply? As you have a pretty competent GPU, and given the current situation, it wouldn't be a bad idea to start fresh, and just reuse the GPU, and maybe your storage.

Do you have original CD that came with MB and a CD/DVD player ? If you start with it inserted, after couple of tries it should accept original BIOS file that is on it.

Finally the power unit is
