Bridged modem setup

Splendid
Currently running an Apple time capsule to a bridged VDSL modem via ethernet.
Waiting for a voip phone system that will use a PoE switch.

When running a modem bridged, can I have two ethernet cables in the modem?
One for the time cap and one for the switch?

I could run the PoE switch from the time capsule, but would just be more convenient to plug it into the modem.

Thanks.

According to this... if i want to run my modem bridged, but have two ethernet cables in, all need a 2nd IP address.

I'd normally run everything through the time capsule as I do now, but it would be much easier to have two cables in the modem as the PoE switch would have to run back from the time capsule, almost back to the modem.
