Question Brightness keeps changing

My monitor keeps (or so it seems to me) upping and lowering the brightness ever so slightly and smoothly during scene switches in movies or YouTube videos. Not sure about gaming. Is it a setting problem or a monitor problem?

My monitor is Samsung curved
Thunderbolt 3 Ultra Wide Screen

Is Eye Saver Mode set to enabled? You might want to also see if SAMSUNG MAGIC Upscale is enabled in your monitor's OSD.

Good thinking on your part, however, Samsung Magic is unavailable to me(greyed out), and to my surprise, eye saver mode was off. Any other idea?

Check if you have some sort of Dynamic Contrast or contrast enhancement setting on.

I don't. I guess this will remain a mystery forever. No worries though, not a major issue.
