Product Name: HP Laptop 15_da0xxx

Serial Number CND82755W0

Product Number: 45U40UA#ABA

Windows 10 Home 64 bit

The laptop is not under warranty anymore. The HP Support Assistant cannot be updated. Specifically, the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver and the Realtek RTL8XXX Series for Wireless LAN Drivers for MS Window 10 (DHCHU) cannot be updated.

The HP Support Assist is:

version: 8.5.37.19

framework: 12.8.37.11

configuration files: 8.0.3736.1538

Also, “Downloading messages and updates definitions” cannot be updated.

My questions are:

1) What can be done to bring this laptop into proper working condition?

2) What would the approximate cost be?

Thanks very much.

For driver issues:

  1. create restore point : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...re-point-77e02e2a-3298-c869-9974-ef5658ea3be9
  2. Run windows update troubleshooter : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...eshooter-19bc41ca-ad72-ae67-af3c-89ce169755dd
You might want to restart after its done and then run it again, after that restart again and run windows updates, no need for "optional" updates.

3. Check device manager for any problems (yellow mark)

Hey,

"The laptop is not under warranty anymore. The HP Support Assistant cannot be updated. Specifically, the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver and the Realtek RTL8XXX Series for Wireless LAN Drivers for MS Window 10 (DHCHU) cannot be updated. "

These are just driver issues and easily sorted out dont worry about it.

Did you mean laptop is too slow as it is and you want to uprade components, or just fix/update the operating system issues / drivers?

4. If theres still problems make another restore point and run sfc scannow https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...em-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e
If you get any errors on it restart in between and try again until solved, you might need to use DISM tool also if you cant get errors fixed with sfc scannow.

5. If you had problems with windows update cause of os corruption (errors in sfc scannow) these might of been solved after scanning , try windows update again now if you fixed errors.

You did not actually list any issues here, what is not working? Just because it can't find updates for something does not mean there is an issue. That laptop looks to be from 2018, not what I would call "older".

I would highly recommend that you clone your system to an SSD and install it into the device. You would get a soooo much better experience. If you don't care about your data on your hard drive, or it's just basic stuff you can save on a USB stick, then you can reinstall a new copy of win 10, which would likely fix the driver issues as well. Just make sure you know the microsoft ID and password used in the old Windows install so that you don't need to buy a new license.
You can always ask anywhere if you don't know how to do that.
