Broadwell 5775C with Windows7 (and "SP2")

Let me bring full specs first

CPU : 5775C
motherboard : Asus Z97 Deluxe USB3.1 (NFC&WLC)
OS : Windows 7 SP1

I frequently reinstalled OS, and every time leaved updates turned off.

Problem is following : CPU benchmark results are weaker on Win7 compared to Win10. I tested few times just for the sake of comparison, difference between Win7 and 10.

for example in CPU-Z, single core performance is alwasy same. Multi core is lower but not much drastically. Other benchmarks provided pretty similar to CPU-Z. But Cinebench C15 multi core score is way lower compared to Win10.

I use drivers for chipset and MEI, from Asus site, for this motherboard :

Also, latest BIOS is installed.

So, what you think is missing there?

Does Windows 7 support Broadwell at all?

Do I have to search for different drivers somewhere else?

Should installing Convenience Rollup ("service pack 2") help here? Because it would provide much newer updates (I already noted that always I had keep updates off).
I had download Convenience Rollup, but still didn't try to install it.

intels broadwell (4th gen) processors are compatible with windows 7 it was the newer skylake and kaby lake CPU's (officially) that are not

And Broadwell is 5 gen., not 4th.

Old drivers? I installed latest, but for Chipset as I remember driver is from 2015, and MEI is 2014, on Asus site for this motherboard. And 5775C come out in 2015.

I can't say whether it will make any difference but I would certainly recommend installing all available updates, although even with the convenience rollup you might find that you have difficulty getting such an out-of-date system to update itself successfully (Win7's servicing stack has had problems for the last couple of years). As is, an unupdated Win7 SP1 system isn't fit for purpose security-wise if you ever connect it to the internet. Updates often include general performance fixes/tweaks, especially for scheduling on processors that have been released since the OS so it may improve performance.

It's probably just subtle driver/optimization differences, better scheduling, improved core leveling, etc features implemented with Windows 10. Not a huge improvement but probably noticeable. Don't worry, it's perfectly natural.

windows 10 is a newer OS so you may have outdated drivers or the drivers you have may not be optimized as much as they are on windows 7 because of the age of your hardware

Or some malware etc. can be thrown in? Or something other? Sorry I don't know much about it, but would appreciate to learn more.

if you do not install "security" updates then you are leaving you computer vulnerable to attacks. and no, a virus scanner doesn't stop these attacks the same way it protects your computer from viruses and malware

Maybe that would explain why in CPU-Z single core score is not affected by Win7, but multi core is.

So should I try to search for newer drivers elsewhere, or should I conclude that there is no "cure" and live with it?

On some comps I use Win10, but lets say for unimportant stuff or playing games. Win10 looks OK, feels faster compared to Win7, but I just don't like reading that it is spyware sending metadata etc. all the time (which can probably be intercepted, or stored somewhere).

What was left me totally pissed of, maybe two years ago, I pun USB flash drive into PC to access just one picture. Not even copy it on storage drive on PC. And, later (when I unplug USB flash drive) I was able to see full album with other pictures from that folder on USB somehow. No I just can't live with that 😛

In Cinebench C15 multi core benchmark, score is around 200 lower, everything same except OS 😀 . I wonder how much of impact it would have on some cpu demand aplications, games, etc.
