hey guys i have a real problem, i dont know if my 750 ti broke.

i have a dell optiplex 3010 and installed the 750 ti gigabyte version
the psu did not have a 6 pin so i bought an acteck 600 watt a couple of days ago.
to make things short the psu started to make some noise under load while playing fallout 4 and it would turn off. i decided to put back the original dell psu and connect just the 750 to the acteck one using the paperclip method while i send it back. everything was good and worked
till tonight, got home from work and started to play the witcher 3, forgot to mention i overclocked the gpu.
ok so i started to play for like 5 minutes when i noticed the external psu turned off, but the game still worked.
either way i was about to power down the whole pc when it just turned off by itself, tried to turn it back on but got no signal, until i connected it to the mobos hdmi and i finally got an image.

now my pc wont detect the gpu, noticed the fans dont spin, and usually when i started the pc with the gpu connected it would prompt to connect it to the gpu instead of mobos hdmi. but now nothing happens.

please help just got this gpu like a week ago used so no warranty.

I can't help with anything until you get a different Power Supply to test.

As for the Windows 7 issue, it sounds like you may have data corruption. Possibly related to the power supply but hard to say. Either way:

1. get replacement power supply
2. If works may need to reinstall Windows 7 (so plan carefully with Steam, passwords etc)

I would TEST everything and then contact Microsoft's support if you don't need to reinstall. If it's a legal copy, they're pretty good at sorting this out. I've done it a few times by following the link from my PC. I never talked to anybody, then my PC was scanned... it detected it SHOULD work then reactivated it automatically in about five minutes.

If it doesn't work we can help further.

Other:
What do you mean the extern PSU turned off but the game still worked? Huh?

That may mean the fan failed, then your PSU fried. Possibly you were overloading the PSU but it's hard to say.

Other:
You could probably get away with a 250W, quality power supply (though I don't recommend it). I would have suggested you use the MOLEX-> 6-pin adapter.

yea i can fix the windows problem, i just tought maybe that had something to do with the gpu not being recognized.

im using the original dell psu to power everything except the gpu because of the 6 pin the dell psu lacks.

im using the acteck psu to power the gpu externally, it turned off, i was about to turn the whole pc off but it beat me to it

i hope the pcie did not get fried trying to power the 750 ti on its own
