Question Broken chip on motherboard

I put the cmos battery back in its slot and there was an electrostatic discharge. Then my pc would not turn on whatsoever. I checked my psu with the paperclip and it works. I then checked all of my connections and made sure they were good. So I started examining the motherboard and noticed this. I got this motherboard in October 2020 from MSI on amazon. Could this be why the pc isn't even attempting to turn on? What are my options?

Yeah, that's almost certainly why. And if you bought the motherboard in 2020 then it should still be under warranty as most motherboards have a 3 year warranty. I'd immediately contact MSI about an RMA.

Thank you for the reply! I have an RMA in the process so I will ship tomorrow and hopefully they'll cover it!
