Broken CMOS battery clip on ASUS G74S

Can anyone tell me what i can do, if anything? Also it would turn on before i took it apart but nothing would come up on the monitor. I'm really lost with this one, i had a local shop take a look at it and they were saying that i was going to need to replace the whole motherboard but i'm not sure if that is actually the case or not. I'm not sure if there was a metal piece on top or if the plastic bracket just broke. Thank you for any information you could contribute.

You need to make sure the battery is touching the top and bottom connector, if it was a metal bar on top this will be the top connector. You then have to make sure its connected, and find a new way to push the battery down.
In theory the mobo is dead with no cmos battery, and you would need to reset the time in bios ea time, if it will start at all.

If you can pry it down in place, and its connected to both poles, all u need to do is set the time/date and your good to go.

Is it highly likely that this problem is deeper than just the battery if i wasn't even getting a bios screen or anything on the monitor turning it on without it?
