Broken EXE Associations in Windows 8.1?

I want to install my motherboard chipset drivers, but I can't open the EXE because 7zip wants to open it. I have uninstalled 7zip, and there's no trace of it left on my computer. Why does it want to open the EXE? How do I stop it?

Solution
If it is a self-extracting archive (created with 7-zip), it should extract itself; you'll likely see the header and/or program information for whatever created it, even if that program is not installed on your system.
Since other .exe files open normally, you don't have a broken .exe association, which is good.
Perhaps you can go back to where you downloaded it and find another version; that one may simply be corrupt.

It would appear not. My games and the CPU-Z installer I just downloaded run, but those don't. 7zip and WinRar both fail in extracting the files for me, though, is there a way I can just open it as if I didn't have 7zip?
Thanks, by the way.
