[SOLVED] broken hdd

Hi guys. Now my HDD just suddenly stopped working. Idk why, just like that poof. It's hardware I think not software. It's not recognized or nothing. Please help. Thanks

Ensure connectors are seated properly.
Does the bios see it?

If not, replace drive.

Bios did not see it, connectors are in, tried another drive, it works. Guess my drive is ruined

You could try an external drive enclosure just in case. I've had at least one HDD that wouldn't work in any of my PCs but worked fine in an external box.

Think about it this way: so long as you properly keep good backups, a hard drive failure is just about the least annoying and least expensive component failure.

Though I doubt many people make functional images of their boot drive on a regular basis so even though no important data may be lost, it could still spell days or even weeks of getting everything back to where it used to be.

On the positive sometimes starting from scratch can be beneficial, get rid of any unused junk slowing down your computer

Does it spin up?
