Hi, I'm really curious as to whether my laptop cpu fan is broken or not, or if it just has dirt stuck in it. I play a lot of games with my laptop so my fans do run a lot so it has a good chance for it to be worn out. This laptop is only 2 months old so not much dirt would be stuck in it. Whenever I boot it up it makes this sort of grinding/vibrating sound, and it's so annoying. I basically can't use my laptop due to this noise, I don't know what it is but I am using an HP Pavilion notebook 15 and it is coming from the left side, it's very loud. This is what happens: I boot up PC, sometimes it starts up fine but only lasts for 1-10 mins and other times the noise just straight on comes on when I'm booting it up, and if I am very, very, lucky, like once in a blue moon lucky, it works fine for AT LEAST 1-2 hours. I don't really intend to repair the laptop myself as I am rubbish, by that I mean absolute rubbish at repairing things and I think I'll stuff it up. Do I need to get someone to repair my fans? If so how much money is average for fans to be repaired? Please reply fast as it helps me a lot. I'm paranoid 🙁

Update: Also, the reason I'm paranoid is because I'm not sure if I have warranty or not. I bought this computer off eBay and it was from Digilife. It did say 1 year warranty but I'm not sure if it's completely valid because I don't remember getting any papers for the warranty itself. I don't want to think I've broken a fan in less than 2 months because that'd be pretty pathetic, and having to pay extra money to repair them.

Your best choice would be to get someone, who is not "rubbish" at tech and is able to disassemble the notebook and take a look at the fan. It takes about 10-20 Minutes in most cases and then you can clean it or change it for a replacement-fan, depending whether it's broken or just dusty. A replacement costs about 15$ and you would not have to spend so much time to get it repaired. But you could always give the ebay-shop a call and see how they handle warranty issues. Sometimes they just send you the warranty information in a ebay-PM, so it would be best to look at your inbox first.

Yes, thanks for replying but the thing is this PC was a gift from my dad so I wouldn't be able to get the mail. But I'll check with that with my dad. All I was trying to say is thanks for replying and wow I didn't know it was so cheap. It's probably in US dollars though.
