I snapped the clip on the first PCIe slot where my GPU sits. It has completely detached and a bit of it has broken in two.

My GTX970 is well held in with the screws on the case however I'm a bit worried as one of these days I will be upgrading to a 1070 and I don't want anymore problems. It's probably not great to have the card hanging there solely by the two screws so I was thinking of changing out the board to a new one as I don't fancy using one of the x8 slots.

However the two usual sites which I use for purchasing components (Amazon UK & Overclockers UK) don't stock a decent 1150 socket anymore so I might have to look towards a 1151 or another site.

I'm not looking for motherboard recommendations but instead to ask if it's even worth replacing the board because of the broken clip? The GPU has almost no sag and is very sturdy in place.

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about the broken retaining clip myself. The friction of the PCIe slot and the two rear plate screws should be plenty to hold the GPU in position.
