I was working on my laptop and then the screen flickered and is now covered in a green tinge colour with vertical lines. (apart from 1cm of the top of the screen which is normal). Theres been no damage to the laptop.

Can anyone tell me what happened and if its likely to be a screen issue or the cable ?? 🙁

Thanks

No the laptop screen only flickered once before the green tinge/lines appeared. I just wanted to know if its likely the screen has just given up or its the cable? Do screens go just like that? I didnt even move it.
Yes screens can die just like that...Most of the times its factory faults that causes the screen to die.
A small short circuit or an electricity fault can make a screen faulty and hard to function.
My suggestion is....Use other HDMI screen cable and a Different external monitor and see if your flickering problem still appear on the laptop screen.

So you have a External screen connected to your laptop if im not mistaken?
Well what kind of screen Cable do you use (HDMI or VGA)
When the screen flicker....Does both monitors flicker at the same time or is it only the external screen or the laptop monitor?
Also be so kind to name your laptop and its specs for the IT's to troubleshoot this problem.

Thanks sorry yes that may have been useful...its a HP Pavillion 15 - au185sa. I do have an external screen attached to the laptop (connected by HDMI but that isnt the one with the issue....its the actual laptop screen.

The external screen is fine even when i change the display to be just that screen. Ive rebooted with no connections also.

Does the laptop screen flicker only when you connect the external screen or does it flicker even without the external screen connected?
If the flickering appear only when you connect the external screen it can be the HDMI cable your Using...Or maybe the HDMI port on the external screen has an issue.Use an different Port on the External screen and use a different HDMI cable (A High speed High definition Media input cable)

If that doesn't work it could be the HDMI port on the Laptop itself or there is an issue with the Laptop screen. If the screen flicker without the External screen connected you may need to take the laptop to the nearest PC repair shop.
