So I recently bought myself a GTX 1060 Zotac AMP edition from Amazon with 1 day shipping. When I first opened the box, the fan mount on the card was wobbly, and I noticed that 1 of the screw holders were broken and another screw was missing. Anyway, I decided to still try and use it, well, a few days later I was about to do some light cleaning when I touched the gtx 1060 (and I mean literally, just touched the fan frame) and the whole fan assembly fell off. Only the power cord attached the fans to the heatsink, 3/4 screws either fell off, were misaligned, or broken. I've since tried to hold the card together with zip ties as a temporary solution (pretty sturdy).

I could request a refund and try to buy from a different brand, EVGA perhaps, or just try and get an RX 580 (more expensive). Either way I probably couldn't use my PC for a day or two. What should I do?

Solution
you make a big error using the gpu. I would have called the shipper and amazon and sent them photos of the shipping damaged gpu and put in for a full refund. amazon would then have put in a claim with the shipper for a broken item. right now your going to have to fight with amazon they might say you broke the card and want a full refund. stay away from evga cards they have over heating vrm and the cards be cathing on fire from them failing. there cheap work around was to send up thermal pad. the zotec/asus cards are not bad.
