Brother MFC-J6910DW software is a nightmare - how to fix? ( Win 7 64 bit )

I'm actually surprised that Brother doesn't have any user forums - that's a black eye for them, as far as I'm concerned. Anyway...

This seems to be a nicely made and reliable multifunction, with the great big glaring exception of the fact that it NORMALLY prints in reverse order unless you set it to do otherwise. THAT means that if you print 50 pages, it will print with page 1 on the bottom and page 50 on top. Hopefully the people who designed it that way, have now left Brother. But I had to set it to print in reverse order, and THEN it balks if I print much more than 30 pages at a time, and takes a long time to reverse the order in software or memory, or wherever it achieves that task. Not good. But I have that resolved, and just have to live with it, for the rest of the life of this machine. But my current problem:

All I have use for, are the printer and the ADF for scanning multi-page documents. But I've had to install the software maybe 8 times already, because when one of them works right, the other generally doesn't. What happens, when I install their huge software package, is that it usually creates a diver in my Windows Devices called MFC-J6910DW, and one called MFC-J6910DW (COPY1). In order to print at ALL, I have to set whatever program is doing the printing, to use (COPY1), OR set the default to that in the Windows Devices. OK, fine.

But THEN, their interface for using the ADF to scan, is called Control Center 4 and IT only shows MFC-J6910DW in its setup and won't scan using the ADF then.

In the current install of the software that I've done, only MFC-J6910DW shows up in the Windows Devices, and the ADF works fine with their Control Center 4, BUT (COPY1) doesn't show up in Windows Devices, to be set as the default, and several programs cant be set to use (COPY1) as default when I select it in them, so I have to keep selecting it every time I open that program and go to print, or it just won't print if MFC-J6910DW is selected without (COPY1).

Does anyone have experience with this mess, or does it just "suck to be me" and good luck until the machine eventually dies and I replace it?
