How do I get my windows 8 os on it
I had brought a m51ad asus recently and got an ssd for it. How would I get windows 8 on it, at first I wanted to just partition and clone my os to it but I heard its best to clean install but I can't do that with a prebuilt computer as it does not come with a windows 8 os cd right?

If you want to clone then use a program called 'Macrium reflect' http://download.cnet.com/Macrium-Reflect-Free/3000-2242_4-10845728.html?part=dl-&subj=dl&tag=button. You can google the steps / instructions for it.

Yes, it may be better to do a clean install.
Note down your windows 8 product key either if you have a COA license on your case or use this http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/windows-8-product-key.htm

Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only and follow the steps to create installation media such as a dvd or bootable usb.

Install it and make sure to choose custom during the install in order to fresh install. The same windows product key will work even if you change drive. The key (if it is OEM) is tied to the motherboard. If the key is retail then you can even change motherboard and it will work. Anyway, in your case its just the drive so the same key will work.

The problem with the second (what I want to do) is that it says "The product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8.1", is something wrong?
