I have been having inconsistent issues with browsing. I will start with IE. I like to use multiple windows and over time it will start lagging when I load a new page or load extremely slowly. If I check the task manager/processes, there will be multuiple ieexplore's open but one will always be hogging memory (in the 1,000,000+ K) After a while the active window will act like it can't find the web page. I will stop that gargantuan memory hog process and it will find the page, albeit slowly.
Mozilla and Chrome also seem to be extremely laggy as well, although not with the hanging web page load. They will also seem to have that "memory leak".

First, let me point out that I have 50 MB/sec ISP so that should not be the issue and it is LAN not wireless.
Machine specs i5-2550k 3.40ghz 24 GB mem, Geforce GTX 550 Ti, twin monitors, just re-installed windows 7 Pro, I am at a loss, but am starting to think it might be Norton somehow

Disable your firewall(s), and /or be sure you do not have multiple security suites running; (disable Windows Defender and Firewall). See what happens--then enable ONE only firewall. You may need to delete NORTON entirely, and start over with a new security suite intall; Windows has a freebee.

Well, Norton is a waste of money... and IE is a waste of disk space lol. It sounds like you have have malware or something in your computer. Download Malwarebytes, the free version and run it. If it finds something, you may consider getting rid of Nortons and installing Avast Antivirus (also free). Those are a couple of the best ones for detecting viruses and malware. Just an idea to see if you have junk that snuck into it somehow...

Malwarebytes found 1 minor thing. I fixed and we will see if it continues. Thx

I turned off the Windows firewall, left Nortons running for now. We will see. I have always been a fan of Norton's. I know I may have misguided loyalties, but my wife seems like a Trojan magnet and Norton has been very successful at stopping her attempts at sabotaging my system. 😉
