BSOD After Installing Ram

Hi everyone and thank you for reading.

I am using a Sony All-in-One PC with Windows 8.1 (64 bit). It came with 2 4gb sticks of ram. I have been using adobe programs which have been running very slowly so I decided to upgrade ram and bought 2 8gb sticks. After installing the new sticks of ram I turned on the PC and everything seemed normal, nothing was noticeable faster. I opened the control panel and it did say the 16gb was installed. After about 15 minutes the computer gets the BSOD and restarts.

After reading other forums, it looks like I'm going to have to 'flash the bios' which I interpreted as a factory reset? I really, really dont want to have to do that. It will take me an entire day I'm sure.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can avoid flashing the bios and using my 16gb?

Flashing the BIOS (depending on the system) usually goes fairly quickly. A factory reset is not needed here, that will erase and reinstall everything.

Were you able to get a screenshot or error message of what was on the BSOD? Check the event viewer as well, is there an error message there around the time blue screened?

Can you link me somewhere with directions on how to flash the BIOS? I thought flashing the BIOS and a factory reset was the same 🙁 The error code was MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

Do I need to download updated software for the motherboard? Someone please please help

If & When the next BSOD occurs, please record the error code.. It will look something like this..



Also, if u specify the model no. of ur pc, you can download BIOS and flash it..

Thank you for your response. I have downloaded the bios and I am going to install it now. My BSOD actually has a big sad face at the top and says "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. If you'd like to know more you can search online later for this error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT"

If u run into a problem again, just record that error code.. something like STOP xxxxxxxxx (xxxx, xxxx, xxxxx, xxxx)

You can look up STOP ERROR CODES and what they mean here..
