Question BSOD after ram overclock

Hi, I manually increased ddr4 2400 ram to 2933 on an ab350 gaming 3 and all seemed fine, for about an hour.

Then I updated the bios as I noticed there was an update available, and since have been having numerous BSODs. I've gradually reduced the ram frequency but it only seems happy back at 2400.

Does blaming the bios update sound reasonable? Or is it more likely that it was always an unstable overclock and I got lucky for an hour or so?

As an update I just noticed the core clock boost and cool n quiet settings were on. I can't specifically remember whether I turned these off prior to the bios update, but as I overclock I presume I did.

Anyway they're off now and memory is back at 2933 with no blue screen yet.
