BSOD after Windows 7 clean install

Hi Guys,

Last night I formatted my hard drive and did a clean install of retail Windows 7 Pro. The installation completed copying files then asked for a restart as part of the installation process. On restart I get a BSOD at the animated windows logo screen, and the loop repeats.

I have tested the HDD and ram all is ok. No new hardware added or removed.

And now when I try to perform a reinstall, the HDD is not detected. But BIOS reads it without problems.

Model: HP G62-b10SI
Intel Core i3, 2gb, 320gb
Bios: InsydeH20 v3.5 F.35
OS: Windows 7 Pro

Please assist with a solution.

Could be your HDD star failing.. or bad cable.........

Try change the power and sata cable, try using another sata port....

also redo the clean swipe and reinstall OS.....
(it better re clean install since it at fail first, who knows if there a file corrupted or not because of the fails)

make sure you clean your pc components like cpu, heat stink of cpu, ram modules and slots (ram slot)which would helpful in your controlling your temperature of your pc in case.
Make sure the Windows you are using isn't corrupted or anything wrong with it. Also clear cmos if nothing from above works.

Thank youyou rdc85 for your reply. The HDD is ok as I was able to load Ubuntu live CD and copy all my files over. So I don't think its a HDD issue.

Also I'm unable to do a reinstall as now the Windows setup doesn't detect the HDD and also recovery tools do not detect any OS to repair. Mem86+ test done with no problems and HDD selftest also done with no pproblems.

@brarboy, I pulled the CMOS battery last night andthis morning iinserted it back
But the error persists. I'm unable to read the BSOD error also, coz it won't get past the BIOS screen. The windows disc I am using is retail pack.

also in bios, have you selected ahci mode for hdd, not ide?

@bear boy, that was my original concern but the stupid bios on this PC doesnt allow me to get advanced options to change the HDD mode. The bios is InsydeH20 F.35 (ver 3.5) very basic/useless options are available.

if you can boot into OS with any hdd or other way just run these commands to ensure that you don't have any broken boot record:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
bootrec /scanos

Are this is notebook?

why i suspect the HDD Since i had one that no bad sector no fail that sometimes will not detected, when it detected it runs perfect...
but it will get worse later.. (now in process RMA)

It looks like a the hdd circuit board issue, not the platter...

Yes this is a notebook, with a very crappy BIOS. I'm 90% sure its an issue with the SATA mode. I just can't change it.

I have just tried replicating the problem on another PC. The issue seems to be, as suspected, the SATA mode. Changing between AHCI/SATA/IDE mode resolves then problem.
Now if only I can get access to the advanced options on my notebook to make the changes.

Any custom BIOS I can flash through USB/CD to access advanced options on my bios?

just flash the latest bios if the website has launched any. Either have a look at manual that came with your laptop, might find something useful. At last just take reputed service center and let them do the job for you.

@brarboy, I have found an updated bios for the system as well as missed bios. I'm going to try both and see which works.

Will post the rwsults - good or bad soon.
