BSOD, Any Help Appreciated

So, I've been experiencing a lot of BSOD crashes as of late. To be specific the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. It seems to happen randomly. It might be worth mentioning that the error started occuring (some) time after I upgraded my graphics card. I have updated my drivers, cleaned the computer and reinstalled windows. I don't think its an overheating problem and I don't have overclocking turned on. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Using the program BlueScreenView I am able to get this information, but I'm not entirely sure what to make of it: https://imgur.com/X7n3KI7
Here's a link to the minidump:

Specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00 GHz 4.01 GHz

WHEA errors are called by the CPU but not necessarily caused by them

Only software that normally causes these are overclocking software

What motherboard do you have? If its Asus, remove AI Suite
If GPU is made by Asus, remove GPU Tweak 2
remove MSI Afterburner

NTOSKRNL = windows kernel. It handles all driver requests, power management, and memory management. It sits between Hardware and Applications. It got blamed but its not the cause

Hi, I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://pste.eu/p/vvBz.html

File: 112417-5953-01.dmp (Nov 24 2017 - 14:40:38)
BugCheck: [WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)]
Probably caused by: GenuineIntel (Process: Agent.exe)
Uptime: 1 Day(s), 1 Hour(s), 25 Min(s), and 15 Sec(s)

The overclocking driver "IOCBios2.sys.sys" was found on your system. Remove the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility which installs this file while we are trying to fix your BSOD problems. Remove all overclocks. Sometimes there will be multiple copies of this file, be sure to remove all of the corresponding software.

I can't help you with this. Wait for someone else to reply. Good luck.

Hope this helps: https://imgur.com/OTUkLq1
I don't have any of those applications mentioned installed at the moment.

How does one uninstall the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility? Just right-clicking and selecting 'delete' doesn't work as it says the file or folder is open in another program.

Do you have any other Intel programs as it might be part of them? You can't overclock the lenova anyway so odd its even on there? I found one post where it was used to set XMP settings on ram though.

Try looking in settings/apps and see if it shows there.

XtuAcpiDriver.sys - Intel Extreme Tuning BIOS Interface driver
iocbios2.sys - Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility Performance Tuning Driver

I would remove Intel One Boot Flash Utility Driver as its from 2009 and might be cause as well.

curious what YLED.sys is as well.

Could you be a bit more specific? How do I delete the mentioned drivers? How do I even know they are there? Sorry, for the inconveniance but I'm a bit new to this stuff.

Hi autological, Colif said to go look in your Settings to remove the program. So click on Start and click on the gear icon to open Settings. Click on Apps. Look through the list for the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. If you find it in there, click on it and Uninstall it.

Do the same for Intel One Boot Flash Utility if you find it listed.

Don't remove any other Intel programs you see.

If you don't see them listed there, look through your Start Menu and if you see them listed there, right click on them and try to Uninstall.

When done, if you want, you can open This PC and in the search bar type in YLED.sys and let it search for the file. Once it finds the file, if it does, right click on it and choose Properties. Give us the info from that file, such as File Description and Product Name. It's an unusual file that I've never heard of, and I can't even find it on a Google search. It might be causing problems, might not. The more info we have about it, the better.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I can't find any trace of the intel programs in the 'Apps' section or the Start Menu. However, when searching for the files using File Explorer they do come up with a find, but I can't delete them. Don't know what's up with that.

Is this enough information in regards to the YLED.sys file? https://imgur.com/k8mZdz0

Thanks for trying on the YLED.sys file, but it didn't really help as there is no real information listed. You did the right thing, it's just that the info we were looking for isn't there. We'll move on for the time being.

Sometimes the uninstall program is listed where a program is installed. For example, if you wanted to uninstall Big Game, you could look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Big Game\ and find an Uninstall.exe or Remove.exe or Unins000.exe and run it to remove the Big Game. Or it might be in C:\Program Files\Big Game\

If you can find where the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility is located, you might find a UnInstall program there and can run it to remove the program.

If that doesn't work, wait for Colif to reply, he may have a better idea. I know of another way to remove the iocbios2.sys file (which is part of Intel Extreme Tuning Utility), but would want to discuss it with Colif beforehand.

looks like I was wrong about CPU (think i got this post mixed up with another) as CPU in PC is a
i7-6700K Processor
and that can be overclocked

https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/desktops-and-all-in-ones/gaming/y700-series/IdeaCentre-Y900/p/99IC9Y90216

But the motherboard doesn't support overclocking itself: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/IdeaCentre-Y900-34ISZ-Can-t-overclock/td-p/3288418

that is an odd decision to put an overclockable CPU in a Motherboard that doesn't overclock.

so back to drawing board. I was hoping the lenova update site would give some identification of why that utility would be on your PC, but no: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/y-series/y900-34isz

One solution I found is install Intel extreme tuning utility and then remove it again. That should remove the drivers.

That did not seem work. The files are still there after an install/uninstall of the program. When trying to delete them manually I just get this:

Any idea why that would be?

so its clear you have Intel Extreme tuning utility installed just by looking at where that file is on PC (it says in it screen shot)... yet you don't remember installing it?

What intel programs show in All settings/apps list?
Do you have the intel driver updater installed?

I am quite certain that I have not downloaded that program. I updated my drivers through the so-called Lenovo Companion, maybe it got installed throught that? But I don't see any intel programs listed in the apps section.

I don't have the intel driver updater installed. Should I?

Are you still getting bsod? Try running Intel processor diagnostic tool and just confirm CPU is okay: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

1. Did you try installing the Intel Extreme tuning utility and then remove it again the correct way? That should remove the drivers: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU- (it should remove the old drivers in process of installing new)

2. Did you try revo uninstaller?

the lenova site doesn't show all the drivers for device, just recommended upgrades, so i can't tell what your netbook should have on it from intel. I can see a number of drivers from Intel on there but they are necessary.

Note: I would only do this if we can't figure out another way, it was suggested by someone but there must be another way:

https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer
Note that the download link is at the bottom is the "Releases" section. The download at the top is for source code.

First of all, sorry for the late reply.
Second, yes, the bsod is still happening. I did however manage to remove the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility with the revo uninstaller. But the crashes are still happening.

In regards to the DriverStoreExplorer, what excactly are you proposing?

if you removed Intel extreme tuning thing, I propose you do nothing with the DriverStoreExplorer, as it was a last resort for removing it.

I wonder if you have the latest BIOS, the only real way to tell is to go to here and run Update your system as Lenova don't list which BIOS is newest on their site.

WHEA errors can be any hardware. Shame PC doesn't have onboard igpu graphics or you could test theory that its the GPU

this might help: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/y-series/y900-34isz/downloads/DS104494

That actually seems to have done it! I haven't had a BSOD in a while now. To think that the solution was as simple as that the whole time. Anyways, thanks for the help.

If it for returns for some reason, I'll report back. But for now I think this concludes it.

Hello, I don't know if you'll even see this, but I'm writing here anyways - just in case.
The error just randomly reoccured. It doesn't make any sense.. Nothing happened for weeks after I updated those drivers, but it did just now. Suggestions to why this could be?

Well, this is still there:

Jun 28 2016 - XtuAcpiDriver.sys - Intel Extreme Tuning BIOS Interface driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
and we know it causes WHEA errors. I don't know how DriverStoreExplorer works or have ever used it myself, so telling you to use it is not something I will do again. I am unsure how to remove it though, since you said you thought you already had.

and I don't know why you have

Mar 06 2009 - flashud.sys - Intel One Boot Flash Utility Driver as from what I can tell its only for servers?

The Intel OFU utility is used to update the BIOS and firmware on Intel® Server Boards while the operating system is running,

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/server-boards/Intel_OFU_UserGuide_V1.02.pdf though it might be part of the updating software on PC

But its unlikely to cause WHEA errors, its just really out of place (based on age)

Are you using Bull guard & Bitdefender? 2 AV just cause false negatives and butt heads thinking each other is a virus. Best to just use one.

Intel Extreme Tuning *should* be gone. I managed to delete the folder that contained the files. But maybe they exist somewhere else as well? A simple File Explorer search doesn't yield any results.

I am as a matter of fact I am using Bullguard but I don't think I am using bitdefender. Why would you think I used bitdefender? Is that listed in the dump? And if so, how do I make sure the two don't conflict?
