Problem summary

I am experiencing recurring Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes on my Asus ROG Strix G16 laptop. which so far only occurs at startup or shutdown.

i experienced same error and BSOD on my last windows 11 install before resetting windows

my last windows 11 install was fine and without problem for 8 month until few weeks back which i noticed BSOD

Information
  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • Issue Frequency: 6 occurrences total (4 times before Windows reset, 3 times after) with few days between them(not happening in every startup or shutdown)
  • Pattern: Consistent volmgr errors preceding system crashes

The crashes follow a consistent pattern:

  1. Event ID 162 from volmgr (Volume Manager) affecting \Device\HarddiskVolume3
  2. Event ID 6008 indicating unexpected system shutdown/BSOD
  3. Time interval between events: approximately 6 seconds
Most Recent Occurrence

  • Date/Time: July 24, 2025, 06:12:45 UTC
  • Affected Volume: \Device\HarddiskVolume3
  • Shutdown Event: July 24, 2025, 06:12:51 UTC
Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken

  • Complete Windows 11 reset/reinstallation
  • Issue persists post-reinstallation
  • sfc scan
  • chkdsk
  • HD tune find no bad sector
  • crystal disk info shows all normal
  • windows memory diagnostics
Requested Analysis

I am seeking professional analysis of the following diagnostic files to determine:

  1. Root cause of the recurring crashes
  2. Whether this indicates hardware failure (storage drive, cables, motherboard)
  3. Recommended resolution steps

There are many SKU's for your laptop an SKU would help us two fold.

The second file won't download. I managed to get the first and third.

NVDisplay.Cont
+
IntcUSB.sys
Are two things I see stand out, using WinDBG.

See if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates, following that, see if manually reinstalling your chipset, USB and MEI drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator, changes anything for you.

The other thing you can do is use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command.

Complete Windows 11 reset/reinstallation
Where did you source the installer for the OS? Did you recreate your bootable USB installer using Windows Media Creation Tools to rule out a corruption in your installer? Did you install the OS in offline mode(without the www)?

Mine is Asus ROG Strix G16 G614JV

I installed all OEM drivers from asus website then updated gpu to latest by nvidia app

My previous Windows 11 was the one provided on Microsoft site and burned into usb by rufus
The new windows 11 is same file with micro- os from winutil and burned into usb by rufus

Having looked through the dumps I would initially suggest updating the Intel graphics driver, there have been TWO critical updates for this driver since the version you have. The driver download site for your G614JV laptop is here. TBH I would update all drivers from there that are outdated.

One of the dumps does appear to have been caused by the Intel graphics driver (igdkmdn64.sys). The other two seem to have been caused by an Intel USB driver (IntcUSB.sys) but it may be that this is a component of the graphics driver. Update the graphics driver (and other drivers) and if the BSODs persist upload the new dumps.

i checked mine and it was up to date and from laptops support page i may try uninstall by DDU and reinstall it again, but idont think this will resolve it because in previous windows i also was using latest intel graphic driver

There's an Intel SST update pending in my Asus app.
i hope that update will fix my problem.
you last bugcheck was in a intel sound driver.
IntcUSB.sys Fri Aug 25 07:15:53 2023
(Intel Smart Sound drivers ?)

but when I look up your motherboard I see a realtek sound card.

I would make sure you have installed
Thunderbolt Control Center from your motherboard vendors website:https://www.asus.com/supportonly/g614jv/helpdesk_download/?aw_affid=407399&awc=31828_1753461415_bf43d5ede3e5c43e24d4347f57111b08//

(generally the version should match your bios version )

if you do have a intel usb sound card (might be internal) you might try to update the drivers directly from intel:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
note: bios was updated to the current version. thunderbolt provides your usb support on this system. drivers that do not match your bios can cause problems in the usb support (in this case usb sound support)
