hi guys , for the last 2 months i have been having bsod problems ,i built my new pc with the following components:
ryzen 5 3600
MSI b550m Mortar Wifi
2x8GB hyperx 3200mhz
samsung 970 evo 500GB
the problem is that sometimes when you turn on or turn off the pc, the bsod appears and restarts, at startup happens when you go to load the login screen.
using bluescreenview shows that the process ntsokrnl.exe is the cause.
I have already run memtest86 4 times on the ram and no problems were detected.
even to each stick individually.
i also used cpu-z for stress test and it did not produce anything, i also tried Prime95 and no error.
I can use the pc normally to navigate and play games and I have not had problems only at startup or shutdown.
The Bios is in its latest version and with updated drivers, there was a time that I had no problem about 3 weeks, a week ago there was a windows update and the bsod came back showing different errors.
I need to know if it is a hardware problem or if it is something of the operating system.

Solution
Crash 5 was GPU
Crash 1 could be too as I seen that Crash type associated with GPU drivers this year
Do you use WIFI or Cable?

There could be new intel WIFI drivers here - https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html - only based on fact I got new ones a few days ago. (Have an X570)

If you use cable, update realtek drivers, grab Win10 Auto Installation Program (SId:1152921505693680020) from under windows header here - https://www.realtek.com/en/componen...0-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-pci-express-software

try updating chipset drivers - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

@gardenman I think this is part...

bad pool caller was likely caused by gpu drivers.
dxgmm2.sys = DirectX
99% of the time I see it in a BSOD its caused by gpu drivers

try running ddu in safe mode and reinstall GPU drivers = https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq...an-install-of-your-video-card-drivers.2402269

rest aren't so obvious so

  1. Open Windows File Explore
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
  3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
  4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
  5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
  6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
  7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

Comment: The overclocking driver "RTCore64.sys" was found on your system. (MSI Afterburner)

Possible Motherboard page: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B550M-MORTAR-WIFI
You are already using the most stable recent BIOS available. We usually recommend avoiding Beta versions.

@gardenman I think this is part of windows and should be in that list?
Jan 21 2020hiber_secnvme.sys(Generic Description) hiber_*.sys drivers provide disk access to store the system state while hibernating
Its only new, not even on sysnative list

runs driver view, sees secnvme on his system... so ADA had wrong description? I see now.
after many tests HCI memtest(2 times) , memtest86 (6 times), prime95(for 1 hour and a half , 2 times),furmark , CPU-Z stress test all those tests did not detect any error or crash , then I updated all drivers and graphics driver to version 466.77 , downloaded those from MSI official site , reinstalled Windows again with media creation tool , updated BIOS to the latest version 7C94v18 date: 2021-07-09.
None of that solved the problem , after researching in many forums where many have the same problem even with new builds , I came to the conclusion that it may be a problem with AMD chipsets or Windows 10 and not a problem with the hardware.
I hope microsoft or AMD solve this problem in the future because it is a bit annoying.

if you still crashing, share dumps. We might find another answer.
Also mention that I tested the components on another Gigabyte B550M DS3H motherboard and also got the same error, the pc sometimes restarts when booting or when idle.
I never had a BSOD when i was using intel until earlier this year and i was using the same GPU and the same RAM , all the problems started when with the AMD build.

that at least removes motherboard from probable blame. Its not often we can start at that point

i was using the same GPU and the same RAM , all the problems started when with the AMD build.

Do you know if Kingston tested the ram to work with the Motherboard? or if MSI did?

Yes, check the RAM compatibility list on the msi page and it is listed.
As I mentioned, this seems to be mostly a Windows problem with AMD processors, as that is the common factor in all ntoskrnl.exe related problems.

I disabled windows 10 fast startup and so far I have not had any bsod , it seems a temporary solution or who knows if it has to do with Windows updates , since I have not updated any drivers since I installed windows 10 last time.

Fix BSOD caused by ntoskrnl.exe on pc startup or shutdown problem
Follow these steps:
Methhod 1: Disable the Windows Search Service
- stop Windows Search
Methhod 2: Repair Windows Image using Run Command
- Type this command in command prompt: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Method 3: Run Windows Performance Toolkit
  • Download Windows Performance Analyzer (WPT)
  • Type Command Prompt and choose the Run as administrator option
  • run this command: xperf -on latency -stackwalk profile -buffersize 1024 -MaxFile 256 -FileMode Circular && timeout -1 && xperf -d cpuusage.etl

Hopefully your problem will resolve
