BSOD, Crashes everytime on StartUp.

Everything in my system was working fine until last night when I attempted to set my RAM Freq to just over 1600Mhz up from 1333Mhz, I also increased the voltage a little but still below the 1.6 mark.

I rebooted the PC and I got the overclocking failed message, I then rebooted again and went into the BIOS and put everything back to optimized defaults (Always worked on the optimized defaults) but I'm now getting the BSOD.

"Your PC ran into a problem."

Windows 8.1 Pro

AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core CPU

Asus Radeon HD 2GB 7770 Series GPU

Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard

Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP RAM

Antec 500W Earthwatts PSU

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've already tried different slots, 1 RAM stick at a time.
I even did MemTest booted from CD for over 2 hours with no errors.
I'm currently running in SafeMode with Networking and to be honest I havent a clue what else to try...

am not sure if you can do it in the Safemode, did you try to update/reflash thr bios? just to get everything back to normal.

I just restarted the PC from SafeMode there and it booted fine, no errors :s Very strange.. I just hope it lasts...

well nice, strange still.
check the 20/24-pin connector, just make sure it is not loose and doesn't have oxidization traces.

Do you mean rust?
Had to reinstall my GPU driver and stuff there, rebooted again and working fine.. haven't a clue what caused the problem or how I've accidentally fixed it lol

no not rust, oxidization happens when there is a loose connection (usually on connectors) that causes tiny arcs which oxidizes the air/cupper leaving a thin layer of high-resistance material, eventually causes disconnection on that specific contact.

Ahh I see what you mean, I will have a look into that at some point.
If I do find any residue how would I go about removing it?

Also could you explain something to me please,
I just did a CPU-Z Validation and my RAM specs came back like this;

8192 MB

Type
DDR3-1605 - Single Channel

Frequency
802.7 MHz (1:4)

Timings
9-9-9-24

Slot #1 Module
Corsair - 4096 MB (10700)

Slot #2 Module
Corsair - 4096 MB (10700)"

What Freq is my RAM running at, 802.7Mhz like it says or is that to be multiplied to figure the final Freg? I'm pretty new to RAM specs etc as I've never really had to nor bothered much with RAM until recently. Thanks

about removing the residue, am not sure, hadn't faced such thing before. worry about it when when see it.

About the RAMs, what i know is that your RAMs should start working on 1333Mhz (DDR3 default base clock). check the frequency in the BIOS.
