I had an ISO file. I mount it into a virtual drive. After that, I restarted my laptop. It stuck in BSOD error with stop code "Unmountable Boot Volume". How do you fix it?
Is there any other easy way out?Boot from windows installation media.
Check your OS drive.
Unmountable boot volume means - there is some problem with boot process:Is there any other easy way out?
Nah. I don't think it's related to virtual drive at all.I suspect that when you reboot the virtual drive is not available - hence the unmountable boot volume BSOD.
yes. but iam just updating the status. i've done some tinkering still issue unresolvedStick to one thread, this is the same topic!
Check BIOS.cmd scan says installed windows 0. mine is asus tuf gaming 15 lap, brand new one. bios does recognize my 512gb ssd. but why not cmd??
yes bios detects my ssd. its a new lap, few month used, so no problem with the ssdCheck BIOS.
See if OS drive is being detected there.
If it's not detected, then drive is dead. Get a new drive.
If it is detected, then continue testing.
Boot from Windows installation media and execute following in command prompt
(press Shift+F10 to open command prompt)
diskpartlist diskselect disk 0list partitiondetail disklist volumeMake a screenshot (with your phone camera) and show here.

Does diskpart/list disk command show your SSD?yes bios detects my ssd
cmd does not detect it. when i enter list vol, only pen drive is displayed, not the ssd
Disable secure boot and see, if that changes anything.after lot of research, i found that my lap has secure boot feature enabled, it denies access to ssd by unauthorised agents. could that be the reason why my ssd was not detected?
First, thanks for your reply.Does diskpart/list disk command show your SSD?
Can you show requested screenshot?
If BIOS shows the drive and diskpart/list disk - doesn't,
then create a new windows installation media with latest windows version.
Your installation media may be outdated.
Disable secure boot and see, if that changes anything.

Execute these commands and show command output screenshot. Here's the screenshot
This cmd is from windows inbuilt advanced options, not from usb installation media
This is one is from windows installation media cmdExecute these commands and show command output screenshot.
diskpartlist diskselect disk 0list partitiondetail disklist volume
You're not showing entire command output. This is one is from windows installation media cmd
both list disk & list partition commands show only my usb drive. not my ssdYou're not showing entire command output.
I don't see result of
list disklist partition.
Only USB drive is being shown.
It appears your storage device is either not being detected or is completely empty - no partitions/no data.
Then do those commands from advanced boot options and show result.but when i type same commands in cmd of advanced boot options, I can see my ssd partitions listed. I have already shown this in my earlier screenshot
Here's the imageThen do those commands from advanced boot options and show result.
You didn't show list partition command output.
Your windows installation media is probably outdated and doesn't have necessary storage drivers included.
That's why it's not showing all the drives.
You'd have to create a new windows installation media with latest windows installer version.
regarding windows installation media: my installation media is not old, bcoz just before 2 days i downloaded win11iso directly from windows websiteThen do those commands from advanced boot options and show result.

Bitlocker completely changes everything. Now the PC boots straight into bitlocker recovery window, no matter I enter the key or not, I am left with no option but to shutdown my PC.
I don't want to reinstall windows bcoz I have many important files in c drive that I can't afford to looseBitlocker completely changes everything.
If you can't unlock it, then data is not recoverable.
Clean your SSD and reinstall windows or restore from backup. But I'm guessing - you probably haven't made any backups.
And don't use bitlocker next time.
That's the cost of bitlocker and not having any backups.I don't want to reinstall windows bcoz I have many important files in c drive that I can't afford to loose
What's the way out?
What could have caused file system corruption??That's the cost of bitlocker and not having any backups.
You have to get rid of bitlocker encryption first.
But since you can't unlock it anymore (probably because of some file system corruption), then there is no access to your encrypted data.
It's like putting your valued items in a safe and then damaging safe lock mechanism, so lock doesn't fit anymore.
