Hey. I just wanted to double check with people because I've never had a hard drive die before like this. I've also never had a memory problem before.

I have a 1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 drive. I was in the middle of typing something up and all of a sudden I get a blue screen crash. It mentions something about memory and bios refreshing I think but can't remember. i've only had the drive 3 1/2 years.

I try swapping out the hard drive with an old one and the old one boots up. I tried using different connectors and my current drive was still unrecognizable when trying to boot. That means the hard drive is dead right? It's not a memory issue, otherwise I would be having problems with the old 250gb hard drive being connected?

I also can't even get the drive recognized as a secondary hard drive to transfer data from it.

Any recommendations for hard drives? Something reliable and quiet around 1 TB?

I just got a Blue Screen crash again on my old hard drive. It did not give me a chance to read it but reboots automatically.

I was able to restart and this was what windows error report showed

C:\DOCUME~1\******~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERd09a.dir00\sysdata.xml

Can anyone tell me what this error means?

May just be a driver issue related to the hard drive not being formatted and just plugged into a new system. I'm not sure.

I need help though because this hard drive is 7+ years old as well and could go any minute.
