I have a:

Windows 8 (not updated to 8.1)
HP Pavilion-G6-2292NR:
CPU: AMD Dual Core A6-4400M 2.6GHz
Memory Type: PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
Standard Memory: 8GB (removable) 2x4GB
1TB 5400RPM SATA II HDD

I purchased online and system came with integrated OS so there are no discs (repair or otherwise).

I have had very little problems with this HP laptop.
I rebooted after I installed Malwarebytes premium and I received a blue screen of death, it reboots so quickly I am unable to see the error code at all.
I have let it reboot more than enough to know its surely stuck..

I was able to enter the UEFI via f2 on reboot and run diagnostics but all came back OK.
I changed change boot order to usb and tried to load a Linux Live USB but was unable to access.
I have the drive now on sata transfer cable, copied all files i consider as important.
Right now now I am using the Seagate tool and running the long generic test.

My questions is what are my options?

If drive is indeed corrupt can I reformat, repair and reuse hdd?
Or should I just reformat and use as external drive and purchase a new hdd?

Thank you ahead of time for all replies

Sarah

c:\windows\minidump should be a dump file (.dmp)
it should contain the reason that the system bugchecked. put the .dmp file on a server and post a link.

Minidump folder is present but the actual file is not, its empty

if storage is having problems sometimes the .dmp file can not be saved.
same goes for if you have certain power problems (but then you don't see the bugcheck on the screen)

can you do a safe boot and get windows running in safe mode (f8 or shift+f8)

I tried every possible know safe mode boot option I could find,
f8, fn+f8, shift + f8 and shift + fn+f8
unless I was doing "order or method" incorrectly then no that command did not work.
f2 and f9 both worked immediately though.

Does i have to have an option to choose legacy BIOS mode instead of UEFI mode.
When I am was in bois using f2 then f10 it took me to UEFI mode and legacy was greyed out..
Hope that makes sense..(
