So, my friend recently had Windows x64-bit on his PC. But due to compatibility issues, he did a clean install of Windows Media Center onto his PC. Now, he is experiencing BSOD, poor gameplay on Farcry (though it worked perfectly on x64-bit), and other issues that DID NOT happen as frequently on x64-bit. His PC is:

Athlon X2 4400+
ASUS A8N-Sli Premium
1Gb OCZ (Platinum maybe...) PC3200 @ 2-2-2-5
BFG 6800GT
2x250Gb Maxtor Drives (which have already begun clicking....) in RAID 0
Thermaltake 680Watt PS

(Could it be the HDD's having errors?)

I have told him to get all the BIOS updates, but his internet is also having issues right now and he might not be able to. (I have no idea if its the software or internet settings). Also, he says Media Center is up to date.

Any help will be appreciated. If you need specific info, I can call him and post it later. Thanks.

What type of clicking? Crunching like random access reads, which are audible? Or clicking like metal tapping, which is not a good sign?

If your drive is failing, RMA it and backup data asap.

I haven't been able to get a hold of him today, but it seems that it just started to make that noise a couple weeks ago. When he had it built, he never told me about it, so I assume its the bad clicking...

If the OS is on Raid 0 and the drives are clicking, that would explain everything.

I'm guessing Raid 0 came about since the motherboard offered Raid capabilities?

RMA those suckers and get some new ones in.
