Lo there!

Once again I turn to you in my time of need. Now, I'm having some trouble with my PC, yesterday after a few hours of gaming it went basically growling at me. It's usually quite loud due to the four fans on max (and the the missing a few screws which makes it vibrate making these homely humming noises that have become so familiar) but this was mad.
It just went louder and louder - I was thinking the GPU might've been overheating as it did seem hot, but I checked Speedfan and all was 'normal' (GPU 80c, CPU 50c).

As I alt-tabbed out of my game it slowly went back to normal noise level.
Gave me a right scare it did! I alt-tabbed back in, and nothing. Stayed quiet.
Now today I tried playing again and after a couple hours it gets loud, so I figured I'd save and let it rest a while but then suddenly got the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. I didn't see any more of what it said as it restarted and all was back to normal.

I did however google it and pretty much everything I found was about failing HDDs or bad drivers. I don't really know much about this and I don't know where to go from here. Hope someone here can shed some light on the problem and maybe even a solution.

Let me know what info you need.
Thanks in advance.

I figure I'll take out my GPU tomorrow and have a look-see. This time I'm quite sure it's overheating as my GPU temp went up to 75c on boot, strangely.. Might it be time for new thermal paste? It's only been six months..

Your GPU registering at 80C, or 176F isn't normal. It's disastrous.

There really isn't any way for you to add more thermal paste to your GPU unless it's something you've modded in the past. The BSOD you got was more or likely a result of the high temperatures your GPU were registering and Windows shut itself down to prevent damage and it referenced the driver file because Windows isn't smart enough to say "I'm on fire ARGH!"

As for a solution, what type of GPU are you currently using?

That's the point, I think my friend did, it's what I was going to check out 🙂

Anyway, gtx465, lovely card, and the 80c is the usual temp after 6-8 hours of gaming and the heat on. The BSOD I got yesterday, the kernel yadda, was different from the one I got today when it overheated (of course now I can't remember which) - but I did update my nVidia drivers last night, could that be another problem. It's running 77c now, idle. Definitely something wrong here anyway, but as I said, it wasn't overheating (idle anyway) before today.
Any ideas?
